Bostic continued her strong start to the night by accounting for the final seven points of the frame, moving into double figures while extending the Orange and Blue advantage to 24-11 through the opening 10 minutes of play.
A 9-2 run to begin the second quarter moved the hosts’ lead up to 20 for the first time. Though the Boilermakers cut their deficit to 15 less than a minute later, the Illini ended the first half on a 7-1 run to go into the break with a 40-19 edge.
Bostic secured a double-double in the first half with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryant also scored in double figures with 10 points, all of which came in the second period of play.
After Purdue scored the first two points of the third quarter, the Illini pieced together a 14-2 run while holding the Boilermakers scoreless for over six minutes. Bostic corralled her record-setting 11th board of the night during that time while six Illini scored to lengthen the home side’s lead to 33, with the Orange and Blue eventually going into the final frame with a 58-29 advantage.
With Illinois’ starters on the bench for a majority of the fourth quarter, the Illini bench continued to add to the home side’s edge. The Orange and Blue’s advantage grew as large as 38 as the hosts improved to 11-2 at State Farm Center this season.
