For her night matches, the four-time Grand Slam champion will wear a sophisticated black-and-white outfit with Japanese subculture influences. The black dress features a shiny white bow on the back, cascading over four tiers of ruffles. Her bomber jacket, decorated with a contrasting bow, has a low hemline finished with delicate tulle lace borders.
The bow motif continues to her footwear, with small bows on the backs of her shoes for a playful touch. The white-and-green sneakers were first seen in a casual photo shared by Osaka during a practice session with Iga Swiatek.
During day sessions, Osaka will wear a green version of the dress to ensure her style stands out in every match. A mini version of the dress has also been created by Nike for Osaka’s daughter, Shai, who may be supporting her mother in New York.
The designer behind this distinctive outfit, Yoon Ahn, co-founded the Tokyo-based label Ambush in 2008 and has been collaborating with Nike since 2018. Ahn will launch a collection of vintage tennis-inspired clothing for Nike Women on August 27, blending her innovative design aesthetic with classic sportswear elements.
Osaka’s first match at the 2024 US Open will be against tenth seed Jelena Ostapenko during the day session on Tuesday.
