Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz (18-2-1, 9 KOs) bounced back with a dominant fourth-round knockout victory over veteran Cristian Mino (24-10-2, 17 KOs) in a scheduled ten-round bout on Friday night at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.
Ortiz dropped Mino four times in the fight, with knockdowns in each round. In the fourth round, Ortiz pinned Mino against the ropes and unleashed a rapid barrage of punches, culminating in two left hands that sent his opponent to the canvas. The referee called a halt to the contest at 2:00 of round four.
Coming off a controversial loss to Teofimo Lopez, Ortiz, 28, was determined not to leave the outcome to the judges. He came out aggressively in round one, flooring Mino with a flurry of punches. Despite some questionable punches, the referee allowed the fight to continue.
In round two, Ortiz dropped Mino with a punishing body shot that showcased his power. Mino managed to get up, but Ortiz continued to assert his dominance by knocking Mino down again in round three.
Despite a point deduction for a foul, Ortiz sealed the victory with two left hooks in round four, resulting in Mino’s fourth knockdown of the fight and prompting the referee to stop the bout.
After the fight, Ortiz called out 140-lb champions Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela, Liam Paro, and Teofimo Lopez, signaling his readiness to take on top competition in his division. However, if those opportunities don’t materialize, Ortiz may consider moving up in weight to face tougher challenges.
Ortiz’s performance against Mino demonstrated his skills and potential, suggesting that he is capable of facing higher-caliber opponents. Moving forward, Ortiz may need to seek out stronger competition to continue his development as a fighter.
