The main event of BRAVE CF 89 will decide the top Super Welterweight fighter in the world as Kamal Magomedov defends his title against Luiz Cado. This matchup not only showcases two world-class fighters but also signifies a battle between Russia and Brazil.
The rivalry between Russian and Brazilian fighters has been an intriguing subplot in BRAVE Combat Federation, with 11 matchups to date. Despite Brazil having more fighters on the BRAVE CF roster (98 compared to Russia’s 50) and more world champions (five compared to Russia’s three), Russian fighters have dominated head-to-head clashes. Russia leads with eight wins out of the 11 matchups, while Brazil has managed only three victories.
The first Brazil vs. Russia fight occurred at BRAVE CF 1, with Gadzhimusa Gaziev defeating Tiago Vieira, initiating Russia’s lead. Subsequent matchups saw both countries securing wins, but Russia’s fighters, including Velimurad Alkhasov, Ikram Aliskerov, and Akhmed Magomedov, maintained dominance. The most recent showdown at BRAVE CF 49 saw Gadzhimusa Gaziev secure another victory for Russia, extending their lead to 8-3 in the rivalry.
At BRAVE CF 89, Kamal Magomedov aims to uphold Russia’s dominance and retain the Super Welterweight title. On the other hand, Luiz Cado, riding a three-fight win streak, seeks to become Brazil’s sixth BRAVE CF champion, boosting Brazilian fighters’ morale in future contests against their Russian counterparts.
BRAVE CF 89 is set to take place on October 19 at Pabellon Santiago Martin in Tenerife, Spain, in partnership with Fight2One.
