The Los Angeles Dodgers announced their latest roster moves just before their game against the San Diego Padres. Relief pitcher Anthony Banda is back from the injured list while Brent Honeywell Jr. was placed on the injured list due to a cracked fingernail.
Banda, 31, had been sidelined since September 10 with a hand fracture caused by hitting a paper towel dispenser in frustration. Before his injury, he had a solid season with the Dodgers, recording a 3.23 ERA in 46 appearances and striking out 50 batters in 47.1 innings.
Meanwhile, Honeywell Jr. heads to the IL for the first time this season, ending his regular season. He appeared in 18 games with 17 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
Clayton Kershaw will not be available for the postseason due to a toe injury, according to manager Dave Roberts. The Dodgers made more moves, including placing Brusdar Graterol on the IL with shoulder inflammation.
Additional moves involved catcher Austin Barnes and Hunter Feduccia. Barnes returned from the IL while Feduccia was sent back to Triple-A.
The Dodgers aim to secure the National League West title and a bye through the NL Wild Card round by defeating the Padres.
