The Brewers have reinstated Enoli Paredes from the 60-day injured list, with the reliever rejoining the bullpen for tonight’s game in San Francisco. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee has optioned Elvis Peguero to Triple-A Nashville. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Brewers have transferred Rob Zastryzny to the 60-day IL.
Paredes has been sidelined since early July due to forearm inflammation, leading to his placement on the 60-day IL when DL Hall was activated last month. Despite a 12:8 strikeout-to-walk ratio, Paredes has performed well in 14 appearances since the Brewers selected his contract in May, allowing only two runs in 16 2/3 innings.
His Triple-A dominance this season, with a 1.73 ERA and nearly 40% strikeout rate in 26 innings, contrasts with his career performance in the majors with the Astros from 2020-22, where he managed a 3.90 ERA with high walk totals. Paredes, who signed a minor league deal last November, is now out of options, meaning the Brewers cannot send him back to Nashville without first placing him on waivers.
Zastryzny has been dealing with elbow tendinitis since July 25, and a setback during a rehab assignment last month has led to his transfer to the 60-day IL, ruling him out until the final week of the regular season. It remains uncertain if he will be able to return to action this year. Despite working primarily as an opener, the lefty has pitched 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball since his call-up at the end of June.
