Mary Moraa emerged victorious in the 800m, with Georgia Bell finishing second in 1:57.94. Jemma Reekie secured fourth place in 1:58.49. Bell’s impressive season began with relative anonymity but culminated in earning Olympic and World Indoor medals, establishing herself as a world-class athlete in the 800 and 1500m events. In her reflections on the race and the year, Bell shared, “I was in lane one, so I knew I had to start strong. I aimed to be at the front of the pack and pushed through towards the end. I am thrilled with my performance and second-place finish. I’ve been aiming to win a Diamond League event, and with a couple of second-place finishes under my belt today, I am hopeful for a victory in Brussels. After Paris, I took some time off, spent time with family and friends, and proudly showed my Olympic medal to my grandmother. Following my final race, I plan to find the hottest spot in Europe and vacation there. It’s been an incredible season, and I am immensely proud of what I have accomplished.”
Dina Asher-Smith secured third place in the 100m with a time of 10.89, following Sha’Carri Richardson and Julien Alfred. Darryl Neita finished seventh in 11.1. Reflecting on her performance, Dina remarked, “The weather could have been better, but I’m from London! Growing up in this weather, rain is just like any other Tuesday. I was satisfied with my performance, just need to put in more training for Brussels.”
Josh Kerr finished fifth in the 1500 with a time of 3:31.46, as Yared Nuguse claimed victory in 3:29.2. Kerr mentioned that the 5th Ave mile will mark the end of his season, stating, “It’s been a long year, from chasing world records in February to competing in September. Everything was geared towards the Olympics, and now I’m just enjoying myself. Tonight wasn’t my best, but that’s how it goes sometimes.”
Alex Haydock-Wilson secured second place in the early evening 400m with a time of 45.41. Alex expressed, “The race was enjoyable. The crowd was incredible. Despite the weather, the stadium is magnificent – something I should be used to coming from the UK.”
Scott Lincoln finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 20.82, while Jacon Fincham-Dukes secured fourth place in the long jump with 7.92 in challenging conditions.
