Brown University Athletics and Recreation is in search of candidates for the Assistant Coach, Women’s Tennis position. Situated in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our athletics program comprises 34 varsity teams with around 1,000 athletes competing in the NCAA Division I.

The role of this position involves aiding the Head Coach in all aspects of the Women’s Tennis Program. This includes coaching, assisting in recruiting, and handling administrative tasks like organizing training and travel schedules and ensuring compliance. The individual in this role is also responsible for maintaining positive relationships with alumnae and friends groups. The goal is to continue attracting top women’s tennis players to our Division I non-scholarship program.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree is required.

1-3 years of coaching experience with a competitive club, high school, or collegiate program. Prior collegiate coaching experience is preferred (or a mix of coaching and competitive playing).

Competitive collegiate and/or professional playing background is desirable.

Job Requirements

Ability to recruit in accordance with NCAA and Ivy League Rules.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills are necessary.

Demonstrated ability to work well with students.

Excellent technical, tactical, and strategic knowledge of the sport.

Willingness and ability to support diversity and inclusivity.

Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, internet, and email.

Experience with social media is helpful.

Previous experience with PlaySight or similar software is advantageous.

Passion for the game, commitment to the student-athlete, and coaching and motivational abilities are essential.

Background Check – Criminal, Education, MVR

Employment offers are subject to successful completion of a background check and education verification that meets Brown’s standards.

All division employees must adhere to high ethical standards and comply with NCAA rules and regulations. Duties must be performed in accordance with all NCAA and Ivy League guidelines. Any knowledge of rules violations must be reported promptly. Coaching staff must undergo annual NCAA rules education and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
