Haley Bugeja scored a second half hat-trick to fire Inter to a 5-1 victory over rivals AC Milan in the final round of Serie A fixtures in 2025.
Elsewhere, Juventus required a late goal to snatch all three points from their home meeting with Napoli.
Serie A will now take a break until January, so let’s take a look at how the last lot of results for the year unfolded.
Inter thrash Milan in derby
AC Milan took the lead in Saturday’s derby clash, with Kayleigh van Dooren steering the ball home from close range in the ninth minute. The hosts led for just 10 minutes until Ivana Andrés headed in an equaliser, ensuring the two sides went into the break on level terms.
With the match finely poised at the break, Inter moved through the gears in the second half to take the game away from their city rivals. Henrietta Csiszár scrambled the ball home to put Inter ahead, before Tessa Wullaert and Bugeja combined to clinical effect for the next three goals.
The Belgian provided two assists in five minutes for Bugeja to slide one shot past Laura Giuliani and tap another into the empty net. As the game entered the closing stages, the Malta international latched onto another Wullaert pass to curl the ball into the far bottom corner. Bugeja’s hat-trick sealed a third consecutive victory for Inter, moving them into fourth place in the Serie A table.
Cambiaghi snatches three points for Juve
Juventus came from behind to claim a dramatic 2-1 victory over Napoli at the weekend. Napoli’s Kinga Kozak scored the only goal of the first period, firing home from Mali Trøan’s layoff.
With Juventus searching for inspiration, Chiara Beccari produced a moment of real quality to level the scoreline within a minute of the restart. The attacker drifted in from the right side of the box to meet Estela Carbonell’s deep cross with a first-time volley, steering the ball past the unmoved Beatrice Beretta. Juventus completed the turnaround in the 86th minute when Michela Cambiaghi pounced on a loose ball to lash home her third league goal of the season.
Roma, Fiorentina enjoy away day success
Roma bounced back from their heavy Women’s Champions League defeat against Chelsea with a successful away outing against Ternana. Giulia Dragoni opened the scoring inside the first minute before a Heden Corrado own goal handed Roma a two-goal cushion at the break. The Serie A leaders were unable to add to their tally in the second period, but they would have been satisfied with a win that extended their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina came from behind to see off Como at the weekend. Alex Chidiac hooked the ball home from a bouncing corner to open the scoring for the hosts. Katla Tryggvadóttir restored parity before half time, driving a low shot out of Astrid Gilardi’s reach to net her second league goal of the season. Michela Catena came to the fore in the second period, giving her side the lead with a low effort past Gilardi at the near post before pouncing on a defensive mix-up to add her second and Fiorentina’s third. Catena’s brace secured a second consecutive victory for Fiorentina, ensuring her side will finish 2025 in third spot.
Lazio, Sassuolo clinch narrow victories
Lazio were one of two teams that recorded 1-0 victories on match-day nine despite being forced to play over an hour with 10 players. Flaminia Simonetti was given her marching orders for what was deemed a dangerous challenge on Veronica Benedetti. There was more controversy in the second period when Parma had a goal ruled out after the referee spotted a foul in the box.
Lazio took full advantage of that reprieve to take the lead just after the hour mark, thanks to Martina Piemonte’s seventh league goal of the season. The home side saw out the remainder of the contest to seal back-to-back wins. Lazio will be eyeing more success against Parma when the two sides face off in Sunday’s Coppa Italia tie.
Elsewhere, Lana Clelland’s 26th-minute effort proved enough to seal all three points in Sunday’s away meeting with Genoa. Elena Dhont expertly controlled Jacynta Galabadaarachchi’s deep cross before squaring it for Clelland to steer home her second goal in three matches. The 1-0 scoreline ended Sassuolo’s five-game winless run and condemned Genoa to a fourth consecutive defeat.
