ABOUT THE BULLDOGS

Butler (4-5, 0-1 BE) opened BIG EAST action at Seton Hall on Thursday evening. Butler fell to the Pirates 70-51, behind 25 points from Marina Valenzuela. Saniya Jackson led the BU offense with 12 points, followed closely by Kennedy Langham, who chipped in 10.
Butler went 1-1 at the Ft. Myers Tip-Off, securing a commanding 92-66 victory over Dayton in the Dawgs’ first game.
Against Dayton, Lily Zeinstra set a career-high in points and assists as the sophomore poured in 19 points and six assists in BU’s win. Anna Wypych set a career-high in points with 12 in the contest, all of which came from beyond the arc.
Butler had six players score in double figures against the Flyers (Zeinstra 19, Wypych 12, Caroline Dotsey 12, Saniya Jackson 11, Mallory Miller 10 and Nevaeh Jackson 10). This is the first time Butler has had six players in double figures in the last 15 seasons. The last time Butler had six score in double digits was Dec. 12, 2010, when Butler defeated Ball State 105-98.
Zeinstra leads the BU offense, averaging 12.9 points per game. The sophomore is shooting 50-percent from the floor and 42.5-percent from beyond the arc. Mallory Miller leads the squad on the glass, pulling down 4.6 rebounds per game.
Saniya and Nevaeh Jackson have been stellar for BU, averaging 9.1 and 7.9 points per game, respectively. Nevaeh pulls down 2.7 rebounds per game while Saniya grabs 3.9.
Butler currently ranks 78th nationally and fifth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage shooting at a 44.4-percent clip. BU is in the top 100 nationally in three-point percentage (33.9%, 88th) and free throw percentage (74.3%, 73rd).
Lilly Stoddard is 52nd nationally in blocks this season with 14 to her credit. Saniya Jackson is 107th nationally in total steals with 19 to her credit.
Against Wright State in the season opener, Saniya Jackson recorded six steals in the game. That is the most steals in a game from a Butler player since Kristen Spolyar had six on Feb. 9, 2020, against Villanova. Jackson was two steals short of her career-high, eight.
Freshman Addison Baxter stuffed the stat sheet vs. Wright State, dishing out eight assists to go with six points and six rebounds against WSU. Baxter’s eight assists in the contest are the most in a game from a Butler player since Nov. 23, 2021, when Zoe Jackson did it against SIUE.
Butler returns three letterwinners from a year ago and added nine new players to the team with the addition of seven transfers and two freshmen.
BU’s transfer class includes 2023-24 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Kennedy Langham (Samford), ESPN’s No. 60 recruit in the Class of 2024 McKenna Johnson (Minnesota), 2024-25 America East Conference Sixth Player of the Year Caroline Dotsey (Maine), twins Nevaeh Jackson and Saniya Jackson from Valparaiso, Mallory Miller (Arizona State), and Gabby Wilke (South Dakota).
Austin Parkinson enters his fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs. Parkinson has led the squad to 42 wins in his first three seasons.

SCOUTING MARQUETTE

Marquette (5-3, 1-0 BE) is coming off an 85-54 win over DePaul on Thursday evening in the Golden Eagles’ BIG EAST opener. Skylar Forbes led MU with 19 points in the contest.
Forbes leads a quartet of Golden Eagles averaging double figures, posting 14.5 points per game. Halle Vice (12.0), Lee Volker (11.4) and Jaidynn Mason (11.2) round out those averaging double figures.
Mason paces the offense, averaging 3.4 assists per game. Vice leads the squad on the glass, pulling down 7.6 rebounds per game.
Marquette is led by Cara Consuegra, who is in her second season at the helm of the Golden Eagles. Consuegra was named Co-Coach of the Year in the BIG EAST last season after leading Marquette to 21 wins and a fourth-place overall finish in the conference.

Butler University Upgrades Iconic Hinkle Fieldhouse with Dynamic LED Video

Technology consultant Anthony James Partners (AJP) provided design, procurement, and construction administration services for the upgrades, supporting Butler in selecting SNA Displays to manufacture and install more than 2,700 square feet of LED video display technology, including a center hung display system, baseline LED ribbons, multiple courtside tables, and other digital signage.

The centerpiece of the project is a new LED center hung display consisting of four curved, 14-foot-tall video screens seamlessly connected to create a continuous 360-degree video surface. Each side features a 4 mm pixel pitch for increased pixel density and clarity. The center hung also includes custom static lettering along the top ring of the structure and a team-branded Bulldog logo facing downward toward the playing surface.

Other video signage includes 3-foot-high LED ribbons along the second-level fascia at both ends of the Fieldhouse, two 19-foot-long vomitory displays between the second and third levels, and eight new courtside mobile scorer’s tables equipped with LED screens. For recruitment and training purposes, the project also features two new ASPECTâ„¢ all-in-one 16:9 video screens from SNA Displays in an adjacent practice facility, directly integrated into the new control management system.

UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will head back to Indianapolis to square off with Indiana State on Thursday evening, marking the start of a four-game homestand for BU. Tip-off between the Bulldogs and Sycamores is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler will spend the rest of the month at Hinkle, wrapping up the homestand with the No. 1 UConn Huskies visiting Hinkle Fieldhouse on Dec. 28.
