The Chicago Bulls are actively looking to trade Zach LaVine, but according to a source speaking to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, making a deal this season is more of a hope than a reality. For a trade involving LaVine to happen, either a major injury on another team or a significant shift in the current market would need to take place.
In 2022, LaVine signed a five-year, $215 million contract with the Bulls. He still has three seasons left on his contract, totaling almost $140 million. Additionally, LaVine has a player option for the 2026-2027 season worth $49 million, which he is highly likely to pick up given his current value in the league. Previously, LaVine may have been a challenging player to trade under the old CBA, but with the new one, it has become nearly impossible due to the number of years remaining on his contract.
This season, LaVine is averaging 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 33.4 minutes over 23 games for the Bulls.
