Caitlin Clark has achieved another milestone early in her professional career. The Indiana Fever guard was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, becoming just the second rookie in 2024 to receive this honor, alongside Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
Clark was recognized for her outstanding performance during Week 9, where she averaged 25.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game in matchups against the Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm, and Minnesota Lynx.
The Indiana Fever won two out of three games during that stretch, defeating Phoenix (98-89) and Seattle (92-75) while falling to Minnesota (90-80). The team’s overall record is now 14-16 for the season.
This latest recognition adds to Clark’s impressive list of accomplishments in the 2024 season. She holds the distinction of being the first rookie in WNBA history to achieve a triple-double and has set the league’s single-season assist record for a rookie.
Furthermore, Clark has broken the WNBA’s single-game assists record with 19 assists and was also named a WNBA All-Star. She has been named Rookie of the Month twice, in May and July.
This marks Clark’s first time receiving the WNBA Player of the Week honor. She is the second rookie from the 2024 WNBA Draft class to achieve this distinction, alongside Reese.
Reese earned the WNBA Player of the Week title for the Week 7 games, averaging 16.8 points and 14.0 rebounds per game across five matchups.
Both Clark and Reese have made a significant impact during their rookie seasons, with the Fever currently leading the Sky 2-1 in their head-to-head matchups. The two teams are set to face off once more on Friday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET (TV: ION).
