CAITLIN Clark responded to rumors about her potential move to a different league beginning next year.
Speculations suggest the Indiana Fever player, 22, might join the Unrivaled 3×3 tournament set to kick off in 2025.
The inaugural Unrivaled tournament is planned to kick off on January 17 in Miami, Florida.
Stars like Breanna Stewart and Paige Bueckers have already signed up for the league.
Additionally, Unrivaled has secured a TV deal with TNT and will take place during the WNBA off-season.
Clark, who just completed her first season in the WNBA, played a significant role in boosting the popularity of women’s basketball.
When asked about joining the new league in January, Clark responded, “We’ll see. I don’t know. Just taking it as it goes, and see if I want to play eventually.”
Clark’s rival Angel Reese has already confirmed her participation in Unrivaled.
Her involvement has sparked speculation that she might leave the WNBA.
“I’m excited for the league’s first season!” Reese exclaimed.
“I’m looking forward to playing with the best athletes and really using the time to focus on my game and getting better too.”
If Clark decides to join, she could continue her competitive rivalry with Reese in the new league.
Their rivalry dates back to their college days at Iowa and LSU and they were the top rookies in the WNBA this season.
The ongoing salary disputes between players and the WNBA have led to tensions.
Following the most successful WNBA season, players have opted out of the collective bargaining agreement, seeking higher salaries.
Rumors have circulated about Clark and other stars potentially joining a strike to demand better wages.
Clark earns $76,535 per season, while Reese makes $3,000 less.
Despite the salary disputes, Clark remains optimistic about the future of the WNBA, as expressed at a recent Nike event.
Ice Cube had also approached Clark to join his 3×3 league earlier this year, offering $5 million before she joined the Indiana Fever in the draft.
