WNBA fans are buzzing with excitement over the news that Caitlin Clark may have joined Unrivaled after a thrilling announcement. The new 3×3 women’s basketball competition, founded by WNBA legends Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is scheduled to kick off in Miami in January and features an impressive lineup of talent, including Clark’s teammate from Indiana Fever, Lexie Hull.
The roster also includes Angel Reese, Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Kate Martin, and Brittney Griner. Originally planned for 30 players, the league has expanded to 36 after exceeding its initial revenue targets.
The final lineup is set to be revealed today (Wednesday), fueling rumors that WNBA Rookie of the Year Clark has signed a lucrative $1 million contract with Unrivaled. The excitement continues to build with an update on Club Selection.
In a cleverly disguised announcement designed as a humorous work excuse note, Unrivaled teased: “What might seem like a regular Wednesday in November is actually a momentous occasion for women’s professional basketball fans.”
The note whimsically suggests a break for employees between 11am and 11.22am ET. Notably, the number 22 jersey is worn by none other than Clark for Fever.
The message emphasizes: “This is not just any roster announcement. This sets the stage for the inaugural season of the star-studded 3V3 league, kicking off on January 17, 2025, in Miami and airing on TNT and Max.”
The news has fans eagerly anticipating Clark’s potential involvement. There is also speculation about A’ja Wilson, who also wears the number 22, making the final cut.
One fan commented: “CC must be playing. 22-minute video? She has to be playing.” Another questioned: “Wait, why is this a 22-minute video???” And a third added: “Is the 22-minute video a hint? A’ja and Caitlin?”
Some fans expressed concerns about Clark’s potential participation, with one saying: “If Caitlin joins Unrivaled, I will be very disappointed. If she gets injured and affects the WNBA 2025 season, I will definitely stop watching the WNBA.”
Earlier this month, Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell addressed the possibility of Clark joining, stating: “We are not pressuring her like some may think. We are giving her time to relax from basketball. She knows we have a spot for her when she’s ready. It’s our duty to bring in the best talent whenever possible.”
If Clark has indeed signed the contract, a $1 million deal would be a significant increase from her rookie season base salary with Indiana, where she earned $76,535. Most of her income comes from endorsements with top companies like Swoosh, State Farm, Gatorade, Wilson, Bose, and Buick.
