The Indiana Fever are gearing up for the 2024 WNBA playoffs. Indiana has already secured their place in the postseason, but they will need all players ready once the playoffs begin. Caitlin Clark has been the center of attention for the team in 2024, but another Fever player has taken on an important role as well. Clark recently praised Lexie Hull’s significant impact on the team, via the Indiana Fever on X (formerly Twitter).
“I’m very proud of Lex,” Clark commented on her teammate. “I believe she has shown great resilience. Her role has changed significantly throughout the year… some games she didn’t play, and in others, she only played a few minutes. Now she’s a starter. It’s not easy to be so resilient, to come in and work hard every single day… Seeing her improvement, especially in her shooting since the Olympic break, has been remarkable.”
“This has brought a whole new dynamic to our team and gives the opponents something extra to scout for.”
At 25, Hull has shown continuous improvement throughout her WNBA career. While she faced challenges in her first two seasons, in 2024, she has taken a step forward.
Currently averaging 5.6 points per game with a 44.8% field goal percentage and leading the league with a 47.8% three-point shooting percentage, Hull has also been solid from the free-throw line with an 80.5% success rate.
Despite her limited playing time of around 19.7 minutes per game, Hull’s efficiency in shooting nearly 50% from beyond the arc is crucial for the Fever.
In the postseason, Hull’s consistent shooting could be a game-changer for Indiana, supporting Clark and Mitchell in their efforts.
Every championship team, whether in the WNBA or NBA, typically has unsung heroes on the roster. While Clark and Mitchell shine, having a player like Hull step up in critical moments will be essential for the Fever to upset top teams.
Hull’s performance in the playoffs could make a significant difference for Indiana, complementing the efforts of other key players like Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith.
With only one regular season game left against the Washington Mystics on the road, the Fever’s performance will be crucial as they aim to secure a strong position for the playoffs.
