During Tuesday’s game between the Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx, it was pretty evident that Clark wasn’t thrilled with the refs at Target Center. That’s not exactly a hug surprise. Countless people, including Fever head coach Stephanie White, have ripped the league’s officiating this season.
“I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing, right? When the officials don’t get control of the ballgame, when they allow that stuff to happen, and it’s been happening all season long, all season long… It’s not just this game. It’s been happening all season long,” White told reporters after the Fever-Sun game on June 17. “You’ve got competitive women who are the best in the world at what they do, and when you allow them to play physical, and you allow these things to happen, they’re going to compete, and they’re going to have their teammates’ backs. It’s exactly what you expect out of fierce competition. I started talking to the officials in the first quarter, and we knew this was going to happen. You could tell it was going to happen. So they got to get control of it. They got to be better.”
Clark didn’t unleash a long-winded rant like White. However, her message wasn’t that far off.

After the referees missed a potential foul on the Lynx, the former No. 1 pick from Iowa got off the Fever’s bench and yelled at the refs.

“Call the foul,” Clark told the officials in Minnesota.

Unsurprisingly, some fans thought Clark should’ve remained on the bench and kept her thoughts to herself.
Clark has been sidelined for the past few games due to a groin injury. She previously missed time due to a quad strain.
The Fever came into the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship with an 8-8 record. Despite not having Clark on the floor, they showed championship pedigree against the Lynx.
