Caitlin Clark shared some of the “fun” moments from her historic Saturday.
“Fun was had with the girls,” she captioned a series of photos on her Instagram after making history as the first WNBA rookie to achieve a triple-double, boosting her chances for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
She made history during a thrilling 83-78 upset win over the league-leading Liberty on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, where she recorded 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds.
Clark posted photos of herself smiling during postgame press coverage and action shots from her outstanding performance.
The 22-year-old also shared a picture with teammate Katie Lou Samuelson on the court and an image of her signing jerseys, basketballs, posters, and meeting young fans.
“I am enchanted to meet #22,” read one of the signs.
Last week, Clark came close to achieving a triple-double but fell just short of one rebound in the 88-82 win against the Mercury. However, she secured it in the fourth quarter against the Liberty on Saturday.
“Obviously, it’s really cool,” Clark told reporters. “My teammates have been finishing the ball really, at a high rate. My assist numbers, that’s because of them.”
Aside from the record, there was plenty of fun in defeating the league’s best team and improving the Fever’s playoff odds.
If the 40-game season were to end today, the Fever (9-13) would occupy the final playoff spot at No. 8 in the league.
The victory over New York put them ahead of the Dream (7-12) by 1/2 a game.
The team has shown significant improvement since starting out 2-9, finding their footing with Clark, the No. 1 draft pick.
“Caitlin with a triple-double, my gosh, that’s incredible,” Fever coach Christie Side remarked after the latest win. “Holding New York to 16 points in the fourth quarter, that’s huge for us. That’s the No. 1 team in the league.”
