Fever star Caitlin Clark shared a heartwarming moment with the late Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, and her family during WNBA All-Star festivities.
The encounter took place on Saturday around the All-Star Game featuring Team USA and Team WNBA, which was filled with a collection of All-Stars who didn’t make the national team roster.
Clark ventured toward the courtside seating area to meet Vanessa, as well as her daughters Natalia, Bianka and Capri.
Of note, Clark and Capri, Bryant’s youngest daughter, happened to be wearing matching Nike Kobe 6 PEs, which the Rookie of the Year candidate seemingly highlighted upon meeting.
In the game, Clark finished with only four points in 26 minutes, shooting 2-for-9 from the field and 0-for-7 from three-point range, though she did add a game-high 10 assists — an All-Star Game record for a rookie — and just two turnovers.
For the season, Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 8.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
She currently leads the league in assists and assists per game.
Team WNBA did manage to win the game against the Team USA representatives with a 117-109 final score.
Leading the way for Team WNBA was fellow Team USA-snub and All-Star Arike Ogunbowale.
The four-time All-Star set a league All-Star Game scoring record with 34 points on 10-for-20 shooting, including 8-of-13 makes from deep, giving her a second career All-Star Game MVP honor.
Ogunbowale started with Clark in the backcourt, but all of her points came in the second half.
Clark and the Fever will return to action following the Olympics, which will take place in Paris.
Their next regular season WNBA game is scheduled for Aug. 16 against Diana Taurasi and the Mercury.
