Caitlin Clark is part of an investment group aiming to secure a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team in Cincinnati, announced by the FC Cincinnati investment group.
The NWSL Cincinnati bid team expressed excitement about Caitlin Clark joining their ownership group to bring women’s professional soccer to the city, stating, “Her dedication to the sport, empowerment of women’s sports in the Greater Cincinnati area, and influence as a role model make her an essential part of our bid for the 16th NWSL team.”

Cincinnati is in the running as one of the three finalists for the expansion bid, alongside Cleveland and Denver.
The specifics of Clark’s contribution to the bid have not been disclosed publicly.

According to Sportico data from 2024, the average value of an NWSL franchise is $104 million. Angel City FC in Los Angeles holds the highest franchise value at $250 million, while the Chicago Red Stars are the least valued at $53 million.
If Clark’s investment is even a fraction of a typical franchise value, it could surpass her entire annual WNBA salary.

Clark earned $76,535 in her first year of the WNBA rookie contract, increasing to $78,066 the following year.
Although offered lucrative opportunities in other leagues, such as the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league, Clark chose to focus on her WNBA career and other interests.
