Basketball star Caitlin Clark shared insights on her mother’s perspective on her achievements during a recent episode of the New Heights podcast with co-hosts Jason and Travis Kelce. The Indiana Fever player opened up about her journey from being scouted by colleges at 13 years old to being named Time magazine’s 2024 Athlete of the Year.
When the Kelce brothers jokingly suggested they might have forgotten one of Clark’s many accomplishments, she humorously played along. Travis asked which achievement meant the most to her, and she deferred to her mother’s opinion.
Clark mentioned that her mom would likely highlight her Academic All-American recognition for excelling both on the court and in the classroom during her college years. This program recognizes student-athletes with a GPA above 3.50, with Clark earning this honor with a GPA of 3.64 in April 2024.
While acknowledging her fondness for the academic award, Clark expressed that all her accolades hold significance to her. She particularly highlighted her Time Athlete of the Year recognition, sharing her admiration for past recipients like LeBron James and the importance of featuring women’s sports on the cover.
Aside from her Time recognition, Clark was also named Female Athlete of the Year by The Associated Press in December 2024, joining a select group of female basketball players who have received this honor.
