Caitlin Clark has teased she might be up for competing in two sports at the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
The 23-year-old Indiana Fever star has fast become one of the biggest faces in American sport following a record-shattering college basketball career and a Rookie of the Year season on her entry into the WNBA last year.
It’s why, for many, Clark’s omission from the USA Olympic team for Paris 2024 came as a big surprise.
Clark is widely expected to be on the US women’s 12-strong roster for LA28, when she will be 26 years old, but it may not be the only sport she is interested in at the Games in Los Angeles.
Speaking on a panel alongside tennis legend Serena Williams at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting in Florida, Clark spoke about the idea of playing flag football: “I remember going to my brother’s football games, and it was like, ‘Why can’t I play football?’ I would have played it; I would have loved it.”
Williams then interjected, “You would have been great at it!”
“I would have played it. I would have loved it. I would have been OK,” she responded.
Flag football, the non-tackle version of American Football, is set to make its Olympic debut in 2028, and Clark joked about the possibility of getting involved.
“Maybe LA 2028, maybe I’ll do two sports,” Clark said. “Or if basketball doesn’t work out, I’ll head over to flag football.”
With Clark’s impressive vision and penchant for passing, it’s certainly not too hard to imagine the hoops star as a quarterback.
