Before Caitlin Clark, there were WNBA legends, but one that remains close to her heart is former Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore.
Clark recently expressed her admiration for Moore, calling her the biggest WNBA idol, a sentiment well-known due to Clark’s support for the Lynx, the team closest to her hometown.
Reflecting on the upcoming retirement of Moore’s jersey, Clark shared, “If you would have told me as a kid that I would be playing when [Moore’s] jersey is retired, it’s very full circle for me. She was my favorite player, and I still see her as my LeBron James of childhood.”
The Lynx will honor Moore with a jersey retirement ceremony on August 24 at Target Center, coinciding with the game against Clark’s Fever.
Moore, a four-time WNBA champion and 2014 MVP, surprised Clark earlier in the year before her historic game where she became the all-time NCAA scoring leader in college basketball history.
