While the average basketball fan may not have been familiar with Chennedy Carter heading into last WNBA season, she quickly changed that in a game against the Indiana Fever.
The former Chicago Sky guard, who is currently a free agent, went insanely viral after she shoved Caitlin Clark to the ground during their game on June 1. The incident saw her assessed a flagrant foul, but sparked a significant debate off the court about how Clark was being treated or perceived by other players in the league.

While she awaits a call for someone to sign after averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists, Carter appeared on a stream with popular Kick personality, N3on. The two discussed various topics, such as the Clark incident and how she has handled the backlash following that moment.
They also played a one-on-one game, which has caught fans’ attention online.
The game itself ended in a much closer score than most would have anticipated, but it was clear that Carter was not only not in basketball shoes, but didn’t seem to be trying all that hard, necessarily.
Carter won by a score of 11-7 after hitting a handful of jumpers to pull away from. The video itself has amassed more than a million views as of writing and thousands of comments across X.

Carter was asked about her free agency situation, but didn’t really provide much insight on the matter. However, a January report by the Chicago Tribune’s Julia Poe did provide some insight as to why Carter has struggled to stick in the WNBA, citing her struggles from deep.

“Carter doesn’t take 3-pointers,” wrote Poe. “She required the league’s fourth-highest usage rate (28.4) to sustain her scoring, which meant the offense catered heavily to isolation guard play that left Cardoso and Reese disengaged and uninspired on the offensive end.”
Only time will tell if she ends up getting another opportunity, but since being drafted No. 4 overall in 2020 by the Atlanta Dream, she has frequently bounced around. She has played for three WNBA teams in four years, and also spent a season in China.
So, fans may need to wait a while for her and Clark to lineup against one another again.
