The Indiana Fever (21-19) suffered a tough 75-63 road loss on Sunday night to the Golden State Valkyries (21-18) as both teams continue to battle for postseason positioning with just over a week remaining in the WNBA season.
The Fever are still operating without star point guard Caitlin Clark, who has been sidelined since just before the All-Star break with a groin injury.

Clark has appeared in just 13 games this season, but even while sitting out against Golden State, she continued to support her team from the sidelines and shared a special moment with former Iowa teammate and Valkyries guard Kate Martin after the game.
On Monday, Clark posted a picture of herself with Martin on her Instagram story, captioned: “Proud of you.”
Caitlin Clark spent her entire four years at Iowa playing alongside Kate Martin. Martin’s career began in 2019, while Clark’s freshman season started in 2020.

Together, and with the help of Gabbie Marshall—who also attended the game to support her former teammates—Iowa reached back-to-back national championship games in 2023 and 2024 and participated in the NCAA Tournament every year.
Clark became the all-time leading scorer in Division I college basketball and was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Martin attended the draft to support Clark but was selected No. 18 overall by the Las Vegas Aces. This past offseason, she joined the Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA’s newest expansion team.

Since entering the pros, Martin has remarkably never lost to Clark. This season, the Valkyries swept the Fever, and last year, when Martin was with the Aces, they defeated the Fever in every matchup.
