Caitlin Clark shares candid injury update at Team USA camp

Injuries derailed Caitlin Clark’s highly anticipated second WNBA season. She was expected to be an MVP candidate, but life had different plans.

The Indiana Fever looked like a legitimate championship contender, but not having their all-world point guard for most of the campaign took a big toll on their chances. Clark was only able to play in 13 games last season, and it was the first time in her basketball career that she dealt with so many ailments.

Now, she’s back on the court with no limitations, taking the floor at USA Basketball’s Senior National Team training camp in Durham, N.C. There, she made sure to make a statement and a bit of a warning for the rest of the league.

“I’m at 100 percent,” Clark said, per Yahoo Sports. “Obviously, I need to knock off a little bit of rust and get my lungs back, but my body feels really good. I feel like I’m in a really good spot, my main goal is just staying that way.”

The Iowa product averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds, going 36.7 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from beyond the arc in her second season. It was obviously a far cry from what people expected, but injuries are also a part of the game. Clark was still the main attraction in the league when healthy, and it’ll be interesting to see how she bounces back and returns after such a long layoff.
