The generational talent and the glue that kept it all together. Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin’s friendship is something to look into as despite being in two different teams, their bond remained just as strong. Everybody remembers the Iowa team that went to two consecutive NCAA finals, Kate was a vital part of that Hawkeyes team averaging 13 points and 6.8 rebounds in her last season complementing the phenomenal Caitlin Clark very well.

After getting drafted by the Aces in the NBA draft, we got to witness these two go head-to-head against each other during the regular season, where Kate came out victorious in all 4 games. While Kate only suited up for two of those games, she made her presence felt, outscoring Clark by 4 points in their first-ever clash as opponents.

But now in a move that likely raised zero eyebrows among Indiana fans, Caitlin Clark joined Swarmcast host David Eickholt for an exclusive one-on-one chat. During the podcast, Clark dropped a juicy tidbit that’s bound to leave Indiana fans buzzing with excitement.

Caitlin discussed her ex- teammate Kate Martin’s success at Unrivaled and dropped a bomb that has created all sorts of buzz in the basketball community. She said, “I think people are just seeing her confidence grow and grow, I am really happy for her and you know hopefully I can recruit her at Fever somehow one day, who knows?” “I am gonna try to figure that out, it’s my goal at some point in my career to team up with Kate, we will see if that happens, don’t get too excited.”

As Caitlin rightly pointed out, let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet Indiana fans. Martin, after all, was one of the standout picks for the newly-formed Golden State Valkyries. While a trade can still be done, it’s hard to ignore the strategy behind their decision to pick Kate. You’d have to imagine the Valkyries front office has big plans for her, making it highly unlikely they’d part ways in her debut season.

Caitlin Clark didn’t stop there. Her podcast appearance was packed with some very interesting insights that are worth diving into. Let’s unpack some of the most interesting things she shared.

“Need to have that beef with her”- Caitlin on Martin

Kate is enjoying considerable success for the Laces Basketball Club in the newly formed basketball league Unrivaled. The Laces are 3-0 in the league phase after having just beat the Vinyl BC 83-79. In her debut against the Phantom BC, Kate was instrumental in the win by scoring a double-double along with the match-winner.

When Eickholt asked Caitlin about the possibility that they might shine even brighter as opponents than they ever could as teammates, her response was pure gold. “That’s true,” Caitlin said with a grin. “We need to have our little beef and our little battle, so we might actually keep her away from us, just so we can keep going at it.” Talk about adding fuel to a rivalry!

Caitlin Clark’s playful pursuit of teaming up with Kate Martin one day is just the tip of the iceberg in their ongoing rivalry. With their competitive “beef” adding fuel to the fire, it’s clear that no matter where they play, their bond will only continue to grow! Stay tuned for more updates!
