Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark is trading in the court for the links this offseason.
Clark revealed on Monday that she’ll be participating in the pro-am at The Annika driven by Gainbridge.
The LPGA golf tournament held in November near Tampa, Florida, is named after ten-time major winner Annika Sorenstam.
Not only will she be taking her clubs around the 18 holes, but she’ll also be speaking at the tournament’s Women’s Leadership Summit panel the day before.
‘I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the pro-am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting,’ Clark said in a release.
Caitlin Clark will be teeing it up at a pro-am event held at an LPGA golf tournament
Clark previously took part in a pro-am at the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic in July of 2023
‘Gainbridge is a leader in supporting women’s sports, and that’s clear through their commitment to me, this event, Billie Jean King, and Parity Week.
‘I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika.’
This is just another connection between Clark and Gainbridge – the company which holds the naming rights to the arena where the Fever play.
Clark has previously competed in a pro-am event at the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic back in 2023.
After a season-ending loss to the Connecticut Sun, Clark made it clear that she was looking forward to getting out on the course more.
‘I don’t know what I’m going to do the next day – maybe play some golf. That’s what I’m going to do – become a professional golfer.’
Clark has made no secret of her love for golf, long before she took the WNBA by storm. Speaking in 2023 to Golf Digest, she said: ‘That’s what I was looking forward to the most with basketball ending.
‘I still want to be active and do something, so I’m going to go to the golf course. You can clear your mind, do something you really love, and have the peace and quiet of just your friends around or even just yourself. I love being able to escape reality for a little bit.’
