Caitlin Clark is gearing up for her second WNBA season with the Indiana Fever following her outstanding debut as the league’s No. 1 overall pick in 2024.
Clark accomplished a great deal in her rookie season, setting multiple all-time WNBA records, earning an All-Star selection, winning Rookie of the Year and leading the Fever to the franchise’s first playoff appearance since 2016.

Clark fulfilled some big career aspirations in 2024, but one career goal was left untouched.
Clark was left off the Team USA women’s basketball roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, sparking some pretty serious backlash around the sporting world. As one of the brightest young stars in the game, many hoped to see the rookie point guard excel on the Olympic stage.
Last year, Team USA utilized its longstanding structure featuring a selection committee for players and coaches. But for the 2028 Olympic cycle, the organization plans to take a different approach.
WNBA legend Sue Bird has been named the managing director for the USA women’s national team. In her new role, Bird will be responsible for selecting the players and coaches before the 2028 Olympics.
Clark’s name is trending on social media following this Team USA decision.

“I trust that Sue Bird will make the right decisions when selecting the 2028 Olympic roster. Caitlin Clark surrounded by shooting and floor runners is going to be cinema. We aren’t going to almost lose again,” one fan wrote.
“Omg please please please get CC on the Olympic team,” another added.
“Like we said , leaving Caitlin Clark off the Olympic team was one of the worst decisions ever made in the history of the sport imo. Glad they r looking like they r taking steps forward congrats Sue bird !!!” another said.
“Good. Clark will be the first pick this time around with Bird,” another added.
