Caitlin Clark achieved her lifelong dream in early April when she became the first pick in the WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever after an outstanding career at Iowa.
Despite experiencing extreme highs, the women’s basketball prodigy’s night was not flawless.
Clark traveled to New York for the draft, appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” joked about getting “two hours of sleep,” and having “zero recollection” of the weekend.

However, one thing stood out to her. She couldn’t watch the rest of the draft, missing out on some special moments with friends.
“I was so upset because, after I got drafted, I just got taken away immediately, and I didn’t get to see any of the draft. I had my phone, but I really couldn’t check it. It made me so upset,” Clark shared on the “Fresh Talk” podcast with her former Hawkeyes teammates.
“I didn’t even get to see Kate [Martin] get drafted. … It made me really upset. Then we went and had fun, but … I didn’t even take pictures with you guys, my family, [boyfriend] Connor [McCaffrey] — no one.”

Throughout the year, Clark became a hot topic in sports, both for her on-court prowess and the envy that arose due to her super-stardom transforming the landscape of women’s basketball.
Some argued that Clark and Angel Reese were being used in a “race war.”
