Chennedy Carter became a household name over the weekend by laying out Caitlin Clark with a nasty cheap shot on Saturday. She proceeded to call out the rookie’s boyfriend — and everyone else who wanted the Indiana Fever to sign an enforcer to protect its superstar point guard.
The high road certainly does not seem to be the path Carter is choosing to take!
All of this began when the 25-year-old called Clark a “b—-” before leveling her with a total blindside. Angel Reese stood up and cheered as soon as it all went down, which also drew criticism.
Although Carter’s hit on Clark was ridiculous, a video showed the latter talking trash to the former moments before the incident took place. That should be included as part of this discussion. There was an ongoing beef between the two.
With Clark being the superstar that she is, and it being June, the entire sports world has been talking about the cheap shot. Even people who don’t care about the WNBA or sports in general chimed in. Many of them have encouraged Indiana to sign an “enforcer” to keep other teams from bullying the No. 1 overall pick, which has been a recurring theme over the first few weeks of the season.
Does Caitlin Clark need help?
Connor McCaffery, Clark’s boyfriend, liked a series of posts on X that would echo that sentiment.
One post read: “Fever need to sign the WNBA version of James Johnson.”
Another said: “Idk who the James Johnson of the WNBA is but whoever it is the Fever need to get them asap.”
Johnson, if you didn’t figure it out through context clues, was one of the chippiest players in NBA history. He was often involved in fights. Many of them were in defense of his teammates.
Carter doesn’t think that Clark should need someone to protect her. She wants the greatest scorer in college basketball history to stand on business.
The Fever ultimately won the game on Saturday by one. The rematch is set for Sunday, June 16.
Caitlin Clark and Chennedy Carter will then meet again on June 23. Get your popcorn ready!
