All out there, but not quite…. If you’ve been following Caitlin Clark, you know she has been pretty open about her relationship with Connor McCaffery. They’ve been flaunting their love on social media. Posting cute pictures, CC attending his team’s games, and hyping each other on stories, all while still keeping it low-key. But the recent rumors sparked excitement (and confusion) about their relationship status.
We know that wedding bells have already started ringing in the Clark household. Her brother, Blake Clark, recently got engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Anna Tystahl, and the whole Clark family couldn’t be happier. Anna shared a picture on Instagram showing off a stunning diamond ring.
The WNBA star wasted no time in congratulating the happy couple. But is she following in their footsteps? The Iowa couple has been together for quite a while (since April 2023). Their relationship, though, didn’t go public until August of that year when Caitlin shared a picture with Connor on a boat, saying it was the ‘best’ summer ever.

And you might’ve also noticed the Indiana Fever guard cheering for Connor this season after he was appointed as the assistant coach for Butler Bulldogs. She’s been to his games, even being termed as the team’s “lucky charm”….until she wasn’t.
But through it all, there was no hint of a ring, no mention of a proposal, nothing.
Until recently.
That’s when a Caitlin Clark fan account dropped it. They shared a Getty Images caption that claimed: “Caitlin Clark is engaged to ‘Iowa Hawkers’ guard Connor McCaffery.”
Along with the picture, the fan wrote, “hello????? @GettyImages.” In no time, opinions were flying left and right with people speculating, commenting, and calling it ‘AI.’
Is Caitlin Clark engaged? The rumor that had fans talking
The internet has been on fire ever since that mysterious Getty Images caption came out. Some fans quickly pointed out that there are way too many loopholes in this whole thing. One wrote, “doesn’t seem reliable. “hawkers” and Connor is the assistant butler coach which would make more sense.”
For one, the caption mentioned “Iowa Hawkers” instead of the actual “Iowa Hawkeyes.” And we already know that Connor is currently coaching at Butler University, after his time with the Indiana Pacers. The timeline doesn’t match up at all.
Some fans went a step further, as one said, “I think they used AI and it messed up.” They suggested that maybe Getty is using AI to generate captions these days to speed up the process. But with no human cross-checking, it’s easy for these errors to slip through the cracks.
Others think this whole thing is just a classic case of clickbait writing, “clickbait? Sources?” Caitlin Clark is a huge name in the WNBA, a “golden goose” as they say. So it makes sense that some might want to use her name to get some attention without reliable sources backing it up.

And then there’s the joke side of things. One commenter jokingly said, “Damn she’s engaged to a hawker and we didn’t even know it 😂,” which honestly made us all chuckle. Even though most people quickly realized it wasn’t true, some still held on to a bit of hope as one penned, “Well, that’s pretty big news.”

And finally, there are the hopeful fans. One commenter said, “One day 🙏,” wishing for Clark and Connor to one day get engaged for real. Their relationship seems strong, and it’s clear that they’ve got each other’s backs, so who knows? Maybe one day, they’ll make it official.
So, all in all, it seems pretty clear that the whole engagement rumor is false. If Caitlin Clark were actually engaged, it would be everywhere, especially with her being the superstar that she is. Looks like this was just a mess-up and not the big announcement we were all hoping for.
