Caitlin Clark is set to debut as an NBA analyst on Sunday, when the New York Knicks host the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden.
It will mark Clark’s return to New York as part of NBC’s Basketball Night in America coverage. Of course, Clark has taken the court for the Indiana Fever at Barclays Center, where the New York Liberty play.
But in 2024, during her rookie year in the WNBA, Clark appeared on a YES Network broadcast of a Texas Rangers-New York Yankees game, where she discussed her lifelong Yankees fandom and was asked about her favorite NBA team.

Clark’s answer remains surprising. During the interview, Clark revealed her admiration for Stephen Curry and LeBron James, but she declined to name a favorite team.

“I’m a huge fan of the NBA,” Clark said at the time. “I have it on as much as I can. I don’t really have a team. I’ve never really had a team. I just try to watch as much as I can, honestly.”
Clark grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, meaning the nearest NBA team — the Minnesota Timberwolves — was nearly 250 miles away in Minneapolis. It’s understandable then that Clark never really latched on to an NBA team, though she is a vocal fan of the Yankees in MLB and the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.
