Indiana Fever icon Caitlin Clark’s appearance at the LPGA Golfing pro-am event known as the “Annika” last week garnered significant attention.
This attention may have led the PGA Tour to include Clark in the RSM Classic pro-am on Wednesday, where she played alongside fellow Iowa native and PGA Tour regular Zach Johnson.
Golf Digest reporter Shane Ryan covered Clark’s involvement in the PGA Tour event and featured it in an article dated November 20. A particular story between the former Hawkeyes star and a young fan is capturing headlines.
“On the 15th hole, another teenage basketball player, Martin Davis, was seen walking with her father,” Ryan recounted. “Martin was sporting a ‘Money Martin’ t-shirt, a clever nod to Clark’s former Iowa teammate Kate Martin.”
Ryan continued, “At one point earlier in the game, Johnson invited her inside the ropes. She then suggested having Clark autograph her shoes with a black sharpie, which Clark graciously did, along with taking a photo.”
However, due to the wet ground from the rain, the black ink on the shoes was at risk. When Ryan caught up with her later, she was holding the shoes, her feet soaking wet from walking around in just socks.
“‘These are going right in a box when I get home,'” Martin stated.
bro. a high school basketball player got caitlin to sign her shoes. it was raining in the course and she didn’t want it to get wet, so she just walked around in the rain in her socks.
