Caitlin Clark’s Heartfelt Surprise At Michael Jordan’s Golf Paradise Leaves Young Girl Thanking Her Stars

Caitlin Clark will compete for the second straight year in The Annika Pro-Am Golf Tournament hosted by the legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam in mid-November. This early, the WNBA superstar is in Florida to prepare her game on the fairways. Instead of going to Belleair, the tournament site, she dropped by Michael Jordan’s golfing paradise called “The Groove XXIII.”

While in the Hall of Famer’s by-invitation-only golf course, Clark spent some time with an awestruck fan, who wrote about the encounter on Instagram. Sailor Duffie shared her excitement and delight after meeting the WNBA’s hottest draw:

“What a moment to get to hang out at the golf course with my favorite basketball player @caitlinclark22!!! She’s as nice and humble as you can be. Hopefully one day I’ll be playing with you!”

Caitlin Clark has been known to spend time with young basketball fans. She would often engage them by signing autographs and other Fever or Iowa Hawkeyes gear. It wasn’t surprising that she would oblige Sailor Duffie for a quick talk and a photo shoot.

The young fan had to have some pull, as playing in “The Groove XXIII” isn’t for everybody. Nestled in the outskirts of Hobe Sound, Florida, the Bobby Weed-designed course is for the select few. In 2024, CNN, in a chat with Weed, described it as “ultra-exclusive, few have seen it, and even fewer have played it.”

Caitlin Clark certainly has the credentials and the stature to test her golf game on Michael Jordan’s famed course.

Over the years, friends, former players, coaches and analysts have shared stories of Michael Jordan on the golf course. Many recalled how the Chicago Bulls legend would play 18 holes and then casually dominate his opponents.

When asked to comment on those stories in the “Under the Umbrellas” show with Kira K. Dixon, Caitlin Clark replied:

“I know MJ is really competitive with it. The stories about MJ are crazy. He would go play 18 [holes], then show up to the game and drop 35 [points]. I could never do that. Like, that’s a different breed.”

Clark might not be able to do what Jordan did, but she got to have some inspiration while playing in “The Groove XXIII.”
