Caitlin Clark was left furious after not being awarded a foul call during the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 preseason win over the Atlanta Dream.

Saturday night saw Clark and the Fever complete their preseason campaign, which finished with a win over the Dream before they start their 2025 WNBA season against the Chicago Sky on May 17. While the former Iowa star did not feature in Indiana’s preseason opener against the Washington Mystics, she returned for the Fever’s 108-44 win over Brazil.

However, despite the hype surrounding the Fever in what is Clark’s second year in the WNBA, the 23-year-old was left incensed on the court after not being given a foul call when taking on the Dream. With just over three minutes left in the third quarter, Clark spun off guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough.

Driving to the basket, she was met inside the paint by Rhyne Howard, who contested Clark’s shot. That then led to Clark crashing to the ground on the hardwood.

The Fever star looked up at the nearest official, expecting a foul call. However, the whistle never blew.

It has now emerged Clark issued a heated six-word message to one of the officials following the incident. Footage on social media shows Clark telling the official: “No one cares. No one cares.”

Sophie Cunningham, who recently joined the Fever earlier this offseason following six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, stepped in to play the role of mediator.

Last season saw the Fever make the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2016. While they were defeated in the first round by the Connecticut Sun, the hype surrounding the Fever this year is only set to rise, especially given Clark’s stardom.

“There’s always expectations and pressure to perform,” Clark told reporters at the Fever’s WNBA season launch.

“At the end of the day, we play basketball because we love it. We’ve done it all our life. And I think just reminding ourselves of that, you know, we understand the spotlight.

“We understand that people expect this team to win and that’s exactly what we want to do for our fans and for this organization but I think me personally, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Like we get to show up every single night and there’s people cheering for us and you get to play the game you love so if there is that pressure, you do feel that pressure.

“I think that’s just something you embrace, that’s always what I’ve tried to remind myself of over the course of my career. You just rise to the occasion because you wouldn’t want it any other way.”
