Caitlin Clark’s fans had a field day teasing A’ja Wilson’s supporters after the Indiana Fever star reportedly visited the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. The young guard inked a multi-year deal with the company before her WNBA rookie season, and her signature shoe was unveiled before Wilson’s.
On Friday, a user named @nosyone4 on X shared a photo displaying “Welcome Caitlin” banners at the Nike headquarters, with a caption suggesting Clark had been there the day before.
Following the news of Clark’s visit, many fans took to social media to troll Wilson’s supporters.
“Get ready for A’ja Wilson’s fans. They’ll cry from jealousy again when they read this,” one fan said.
“A’ja merch gonna be reserved for TJ Maxx after this drop,” another fan remarked.
“What are her 4 fans up to now?” another fan sarcastically questioned.
Some users also took a jab at Nike for not releasing enough Caitlin Clark merchandise.
“They better be discussing how to release that merch. Btw, not them rolling out the red carpet,” one fan commented.
“I don’t know why Nike is so absent with CC promotion and marketing 😭,” another fan expressed.
“They need to put something out very soon bc I’m still mad af about that bummy ROTY shirt 😂,” another fan added.
Caitlin Clark’s popularity soared this season, and many fans were eager for more Nike merch to celebrate the former No. 1 overall pick.
Caitlin Clark’s signature shoe release expected for next year
Fans were puzzled by Nike’s decision to delay Caitlin Clark’s signature shoe release. Despite signing the contract with the company in May 2024, her signature shoe was postponed to 2026. Nike’s CEO Elliott Hill explained the decision during the company’s Q2 earnings call.
“We’ve launched a women’s basketball program, which I didn’t think we’d ever do. Sabrina, Matt already touched on it, No. 2 shoe in the NBA.
“And then, we have A’ja [Wilson] and Caitlin [Clark] coming back from behind and behind that. Sportswear, a new lineup around the look of the court, basketball, and football, including the field general. So, net-net is the product’s coming, and we’re gaining confidence with each season,” he continued.
Caitlin Clark is one of the most popular basketball players globally, and fans are eager to see how Nike continues to elevate her brand.
