Interim WBA Super Middleweight champion, Caleb Plant, and WBC Middleweight roost-ruler holder, Jermall Charlo, have been booked to compete at an upcoming Premier Boxing Championship (PBC) event on May 31, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But, the talented pugilists won’t be fighting each other.
Per a recent report from long-time boxing beat reporter, Mike Coppinger, Plant is set to face off against Jose Armando Resendiz (15-2) in the headlining act — which will air on Prime Video — while Charlo will duke it out against Thomas LaManna (39-5).
Plant is coming off a win against Trevor McCumby, defeating him via ninth round technical knockout back in Sept. 2024 (highlights), his first win since dropping a unanimous decision to David Benavidez. As for Charlo, he hasn’t been in action since Nov. 2023, defeating Jose Benavidez Jr. in his last bout to keep his perfect record intact (33-0).
Plant and Charlo have a heated history that came to a head in July 2023. Indeed, Plant tagged Charlo with a vicious slap backstage during a random altercation (see it again here) that would have made Nate Diaz proud. Despite their long-standing beef, the two men have yet to share the ring against each other, but it is highly-expected to go down in later 2025 should they both prove victorious in May.
