Calls Mount for Chicago Sky to Sign WNBA Player Released on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Chicago Sky have a 5-11 record during the 2025 WNBA season despite losing star point guard Courtney Vandersloot after just seven games. She had been averaging 11.7 points and 5.3 assists per contest before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

2024 WNBA All-Star forward Angel Reese has been leading the charge for the Sky, averaging 12.4 points, a league-best 12.6 rebounds and a career-high and team-best 3.8 assists per game. Ariel Atkins is the team’s leading scorer with 14.6 points a night.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Sparks waived starting point guard Odyssey Sims, a 2019 WNBA All-Star who had been averaging 9.8 points and 3.5 assists per game this season.

After the Sparks announced this roster move, fans began clamoring for the Sky to sign Sims as a replacement for Vandersloot. Several made posts on social media about the Sky acquiring the former Los Angeles star.
