Candace Parker is set to be remembered as one of the greatest women’s basketball players ever.
She achieved three WNBA championships, two MVP titles, a Finals MVP in 2016, participated in seven All-Star Games, and earned two Olympic gold medals with Team USA.
In April 2024, Parker announced her retirement from professional basketball after a remarkable 16-season career in the WNBA.
In a recent episode of “The Deal” with Alex Rodriguez and Jason Kelly, Parker jokingly expressed regret about retiring just as the WNBA was experiencing significant growth.
She humorously remarked, “I’m annoyed that charter flights started the year I retired, to be honest,”
Reflecting further, Parker said, “All of us have a role in supporting the current growth of the league. The league faced challenges for many years, and when I retired, I hoped it would become less strenuous for the next generation.”
She also pondered on missed opportunities for personal improvement had she had more resources, but she appreciates the new opportunities now available in the sport.
Parker’s colleague Shaq, on NBA on TNT, may have some thoughts upon hearing this revelation.
