In late November, Chennedy Carter, a Chicago Sky guard, was presented with a “Good Temper Award” and 10,000 yuan ($1,380 approximately) for her accomplishments in emotional management while playing for Wuhan Shengfan in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA).
Wuhan Shengfan’s graphic accompanying the award highlighted that Carter’s passionate nature and occasional hot temper have acted as a double-edged sword in her growth as an athlete.

Carter’s reputation for having a hot temper stems largely from an incident with Caitlin Clark in June 2024, where she confronted the WNBA Rookie of the Year on the court.

Prior to joining the Sky, Carter had faced similar issues during her time with the Atlanta Dream and Los Angeles Sparks.
Carter disagrees with this perception and feels her actions would be judged differently if she were in the NBA.
To support her stance, Carter reposted a video of NBA player Jordan Clarkson displaying similar emotions on the court on her Instagram story.
In response, user @sammygee1400 shared Carter’s story, highlighting the disparity in reactions between NBA and women’s basketball.
She lowkey ain’t wrong it’s fun in the nba but bullying in the W pic.twitter.com/ruSJBYlm9X

Carter’s perspective raises valid points regarding the double standards in basketball.
