This weekend’s WNBA action will focus on the race for the playoffs, as nine teams are competing for just five remaining postseason spots.

New York, Minnesota, and Connecticut have secured their playoff berths, but the competition to finish above the postseason line continues in the league standings.

Fever vs. Sky game is the WNBA’s hottest ticket

All eyes will be on tonight’s matchup between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever, as the two teams face off for the fourth and final time this season.

Indiana currently holds seventh place with Chicago trailing in eighth, the lowest playoff-bound position. Recent results have seen a notable gap between the two teams, with the Fever winning four of their last five games while the struggling Sky have only won one out of six.

Regardless of the outcome, the game is expected to draw a packed house, with ticket resale prices averaging in the high $800s.

Tonight’s lineup will also showcase the final game between the two Rookie of the Year frontrunners: Indiana’s Caitlin Clark and Chicago’s Angel Reese, both aiming to lead their teams to victory.

Clark leads the league in assists and has set a record for three-pointers made in a rookie season, while Reese, the current rebounding leader, recently matched Tina Charles’s rookie double-double record with 22.

Although excelling in different areas, the Indiana rookie has the advantage over her counterpart in points per game, with Clark averaging 18.0 points compared to Reese’s 13.3.

Other noteworthy WNBA weekend matchups

First-place New York and fifth-place Las Vegas will look to bounce back from their unexpected upsets this week in their Friday night games against fourth-place Seattle and ninth-place Atlanta, respectively.

Following their loss to the Fever on Wednesday, third-place Connecticut Sun will seek to regain their footing against a resurging Mystics team on a three-game winning streak, their longest of the season.
