The Chicago Sky are adding two key players for their offense in 2025. The Sky needed help on offense after general manager Jeff Pagliocca chose not to extend a qualifying offer to their leading scorer from 2024, Chennedy Carter, amid reports of locker room drama.
The Sky are trying to build an offense that is more friendly for the skillset of second-year player Angel Reese, a rising star who excels at defense and rebounding.
The Chicago Sky traded for Rebecca Allen
Per Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Sky are finalizing a trade for Rebecca Allen.
“According to multiple league sources, the Sky are finalizing a trade to acquire the 6-2 Australian guard/forward, who will help answer their three-point shooting needs,” Costabile wrote. “The Sun will receive point guard Lindsay Allen and the rights to forward Nikolina Milic.”
At 32, Allen will provide veteran experience for Chicago. The six-foot-two, 162-pound guard has previous WNBA experience for the New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun, and Phoenix Mercury. She entered the league undrafted.
Allen played for the Mercury in 2024, averaging 7.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
The Sky signed Kia Nurse
Per the Sun-Times, the Sky signed the No. 10 pick in the 2018 draft by the New York Liberty, Kia Nurse.
“Minutes after the news that Allen would join the Sky, guard Kia Nurse agreed to a one-year deal with the team, a source confirmed,” Costabile wrote.
Nurse won two national championships with UConn in 2015 and 2016 before entering the WNBA. She’s played with the Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm, and Los Angeles Sparks. At 28, Nurse has started in 138 WNBA games and appeared in 201.
The six-foot, 181-pound point guard earned an All-Star appearance in 2019. Nurse averaged 7.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game for the Sparks in 2024.
