After falling to the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Angel Reese proved many people wrong during her rookie season with the Chicago Sky.
Averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, Reese, like she was at LSU, became a double-double machine. She also broke the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season, but due to a season-ending injury, A’ja Wilson was able to rebreak it.

One of the areas Reese did not excel at in her rookie year in the WNBA was her 3-point shooting. On just 16 long-range attempts, the forward from Baltimore, MD, only hit three, sitting at 18.8% on the season.
Throughout the offseason, Reese was frequently seen working on her 3-point shot. In one video posted on April 12, she hit six consecutive threes, going viral in the process with 5.8 million views.

Although Reese has never been known for her 3-point shooting (15.6% in four college seasons), the Sky may still be planning to move her to the perimeter, which could explain her offseason workload.

Ahead of Friday night’s preseason game against Brazil, Reese revealed Chicago’s plans for her to play on the perimeter more often.
“They want me on the perimeter,” Reese said. “There’s not a lot of fours or a lot of fives in the league that are as versatile as me and Kamilla. And we love that. We love our frontcourt and being able to do that together.”
If Reese can become more efficient behind the arc, that could spark trouble for the rest of the WNBA.
The Sky will play in three preseason games before opening the regular season on May 17 against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
