Patrick Mahomes, Wife Brittany Donate $5M to Texas Tech’s Football Center Project | Bleacher Report
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have made a $5 million donation to Texas Tech as part of the school’s South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project.
The university announced the donation on Thursday, along with noting that the soon-to-be-completed walkthrough area in the Womble Football Center will be named after the former Red Raiders quarterback.
“When we first launched this campaign, Patrick was only a freshman and now it is fitting that we approach the end of the campaign with a gift of his own,” athletic director Kirby Hocutt said in the announcement. “We couldn’t be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. We are so proud of Patrick for all he has accomplished and how he has continually supported Texas Tech on a global scale.”
Travis Kelce to appear in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ | Chiefs Wire
After it was announced earlier this month that the Chiefs’ legend was going to star in two upcoming TV shows, Are You Smarter than a Celebrity? and Grotesquerie, as well as play a lead role in the new Lionsgate movie Loose Cannons, the All-Pro tight end is expected to make another appearance on the big screen.
On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Adam Sandler said Kelce will appear in Happy Gilmore 2. Sandler is reprising his role as the title character in the sequel to the 1996 comedy.
2024 NFL Power Rankings: Stacking Every Team’s Running Back Room | The 33rd Team
19. Kansas City Chiefs
If you were to rank the No. 1 running backs on this list, Isiah Pacheco would be inside the top 15. However, the Kansas City Chiefs just don’t have much depth, and it’s the reason why they are ranked lower.
Pacheco reached career highs in rushing yards and touchdowns last season, and it’s reasonable to expect him to be even better in 2024. But who will be his primary backup this season? That has yet to be determined.
Every NFL Team’s Most Important Remaining Position Battle | Bleacher Report
Kansas City Chiefs: Cornerback
Contenders: Joshua Williams, Jaylen Watson
Technically, the Kansas City Chiefs’ most important battle is left tackle, but based on offensive line coach Andy Heck’s recent comments about Wanya Morris battling Lucas Niang, rookie second-rounder Kingsley Suamataia may already have the job.
According to The Athletic’s Nate Taylor, no one stood out to lead the competition for the No. 2 cornerback position.
“Let’s all remember that a major reason the Chiefs traded L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans in the offseason is because Reid and Veach felt the team still had three capable starters in McDuffie, Williams and Watson. Well, McDuffie has been excellent in camp. The problem is no one has made a strong argument to be the second starting cornerback.”
Last season, Watson saw the field more than Williams, though the latter fared a lot better in coverage. Watson allowed a 103.6 passer rating and four touchdowns while Williams allowed an 82.7 passer rating and two touchdowns.
If the Chiefs go with a default choice in an uninspiring battle, Williams may get the nod because he had a better year in 2023.
NFL roster cut candidates: Nine notable players on chopping block | USA Today
WRs Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore, Kansas City Chiefs
The two-time defending champions sent a clear message this offseason that the status quo wouldn’t suffice for its underachieving receiving corps. With first-round pick Xavier Worthy in the fold and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown seemingly avoiding major injury – and no sign of a potential Rashee Rice suspension just yet – two players who once appeared to hold key roles for Patrick Mahomes and Co. could be headed out.
Bears defensive back leaves Chiefs game on stretcher after scary injury | Arrowhead Addict
Coleman went down in the second half after trying to tackle Chiefs wide receiver Cornell Powell. The result was a scary injury that required him to be taken out on a stretcher and medical cart.
After a workout, the Bears took a flyer on Coleman last January by signing him to a deal early in the team’s offseason after the defensive back had spent the previous couple of seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Redblacks. He spent two years there with the Redblacks and had 60 tackles with 4 sacks and 3 interceptions a year ago.

Anthony Richardson throws TD, pick-six in five series | NBC Sports
Richardson has not played much football. He started only 13 games in college and only four as a rookie with the Colts as a pair of injuries derailed his season.
The Colts wanted him to get more snaps before the Sept. 8 season opener against the Texans, and he did Thursday night. It was a mixed bag against the Bengals’ backups.
Richardson played five series, leaving in the second quarter. He completed 8 of 14 passes for 86 yards with a touchdown and a pick-six for a 69.3 passer rating. Receiver Adonai Mitchell caught a 9-yard touchdown pass on the Colts’ first series of the game as Indianapolis went 80 yards in 12 plays.
Commanders, Eagles trade grades: Former first-round pick Jahan Dotson dealt to rival Philadelphia | CBS Sports
Commanders: D-
There’s no way to frame this as anything other than a loss for Washington. Dotson was a first-round pick just two years ago and he played two underwhelming seasons for the team, but he also didn’t get an opportunity to play with a good quarterback during that time. To essentially get only a pick swap and a couple of seventh-rounders for him is a pretty big disappointment.

Chiefs Roster: 3 players who impressed against Bears on Thursday night
1. Fullback/running back Carson Steele
Thursday night was a grand confirmation of everything we have seen from Steele all training camp. Initially, Steele was an afterthought to make the 53-man roster. At this stage, he is a certainty.
Steele made the first tackle of the game on special teams and later returned a kick for 29 yards. Special teams coordinator Dave Toub has highlighted an ability to block as one of the conditions he is looking for in a second returner. Steele provides that — and more. It is fair to say Steele will be a four-phase special teamer and a rotational asset to the offense.
With Kansas City’s starting offensive line on the sidelines, Deneric Prince struggled — but his back-to-back failures to gain one yard feed into the narrative that Steele will be Reid’s choice for the last of three running backs to make the team.
Any questions about Steele’s roster status were answered with an exclamation point when he broke numerous tackles en route to a 31-yard gain, following it up with a touchdown on the next play.
