According to Christian Horner, the front wing has emerged as a crucial area where Red Bull’s competitors have gained performance in recent months.
Red Bull faced a significant defeat at the Dutch Grand Prix as Lando Norris dominated the race, finishing over 20 seconds ahead of the competition.
This outcome puts their position in the constructors’ championship at risk, with their lead over McLaren now reduced to just 30 points.
Max Verstappen struggled with the handling of the RB20, experiencing difficulty in turning the car in several corners but still managing to secure second place ahead of Charles Leclerc.
One of the main topics of discussion this season has been the front wing, particularly after the FIA implemented stricter checks at the Belgian Grand Prix to prevent flexible front wings.
During a media session at Zandvoort, Horner pointed out that McLaren and Mercedes have found performance in this area.
Horner emphasized that McLaren is now the standard to beat and acknowledged that there are no quick fixes for Red Bull’s current situation.
He stated, “McLaren are setting the benchmark now. They’ve been very competitive in the last couple of races. We have to understand the problem, address it, and implement solutions.”
