Unfortunately, Christine GZ will have to wait until 2026 for another shot at the Dakar Rally. She recently announced that due to a lack of funding, she will not be able to participate in the 2025 edition as she had hoped.
GZ expressed her disappointment in a social media post, stating, “I would love to say we are READY FOR @dakarrally, but unfortunately… we didn’t make it. We tried everything, but couldn’t secure the necessary budget.”
In 2024, GZ made her Dakar debut after competing in the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship for several years. Driving a Can-Am Maverick X3 for FN Speed Team, she finished thirteenth in the SSV class. Despite facing mechanical issues towards the end of the rally, she managed to secure a top fifteen position for most of the race and achieved a best daily finish of tenth.
Aside from cross-country rally, GZ has also competed in stage rally and Extreme E. She participated in the inaugural season of Extreme E in 2021, finishing ninth in points. Her most recent achievement was a third-place finish at the first Hydro X Prix in 2023 for Carl Cox Motorsport, after which she became the series’ test driver.
Her navigator for the Dakar, Ricardo Torlaschi, will be participating in the 2025 race with TH-Trucks. The event is scheduled to take place from 3rd to 17th January and will mark his thirteenth Dakar appearance.
