Cloud9 seems to be in the process of releasing its entire Dota 2 roster. The organization has been posting goodbye and thank you messages to their remaining players in the past few days.
The recent announcements started on Oct. 12 with Cloud9 bidding farewell to Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko on social media. C9 thanked No[o]ne by acknowledging his talent and dedication in a post saying, “Today, we say goodbye to No[o]ne, who once said he was trying to “[hide] from the world in video games,” but instead, he showed the world his immense talent and dedication.”
Today, on Oct. 14, Cloud9 continued the trend by thanking and saying goodbye to Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin. The organization praised DM as an incredible player and an even better person, expressing pride in having him as a teammate and looking forward to his future.
These departures followed Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov’s move to BetBoom last month and Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov joining Gaimin Gladiators in October.
It appears likely that the only remaining player, Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk, will leave the team soon or potentially be part of a new organization.
The future of Cloud9 in Dota 2 remains uncertain. Despite a top 6 finish at The International 2024, the organization has a history of inconsistency in its involvement with Dota 2 over the years. This current situation might follow the pattern of post-TI roster changes that have occurred in the past.
Cloud9 initially entered Dota 2 in 2014, went through various rosters, and left in 2015. They returned in 2017 for TI7 with the Danish Bears squad but dropped them shortly after the event. In 2020, the team re-entered Dota 2 but disbanded within four months due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The future of C9 Dota remains uncertain. Stay tuned to our post-TI roster shuffle tracker for updates.
