According to former F1 driver and current pundit Ralf Schumacher, Franco Colapinto is on his way to Red Bull by Nov.18.
Although there were rumors that Williams might keep him for 2025 and have Carlos Sainz switch to Red Bull, the team has confirmed that Sainz will be driving for Williams alongside Alex Albon next season.
There have been negotiations between Williams, Colapinto’s management, and other potential teams like Red Bull and Alpine for the upcoming season.
Schumacher believes that Colapinto will definitely be heading to Red Bull based on the interest shown in him.
James Vowles, the boss at Williams, has reportedly been asking for $20 million to release Colapinto from his contract for 2025, but Red Bull may cover that due to the young driver’s new commercial appeal in Argentina.
Some speculate that Colapinto could replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull, although a spot at Red Bull’s junior team RB is also a possibility.
Although Schumacher acknowledges the risks of having a young driver like Colapinto at Red Bull Racing, he believes that Colapinto will end up driving for one of those teams.
Schumacher admits that Formula 1 is challenging for young drivers like Colapinto, but he is impressed with how quickly they are adapting.
