Colby Covington In Talks To Face Khamzat Chimaev In RAF

Colby Covington believes that later this year, he and UFC middleweight champ Khamzat Chimaev will meet under the RAF banner.

Covington’s most recent freestyle wrestling match was against former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold at RAF 05, where he beat Rockhold by tech fall.

Up next, “Chaos” is scheduled to return to the mats in the co-main event of RAF 07 against jiu-jitsu phenom Dillon Danis on March 28 at the Yuengling Center of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Last month, during RAF 06, “Chaos” had called out Kamaru Usman, Georges St-Pierre, and Arman Tsarukyan for a showdown on the Real American Freestyle mats.

Interestingly, Chimaev was quick to respond to the call-out, even though he wasn’t the one being targeted. “Borz” posted on X:

“Next, RAF I will make American boy humble again colbiclown [Covington] let’s go 🦾”

Colby Covington Expects To Face Khamzat Chimaev In RAF, after UFC 328

During a recent interview with Submission Radio, Colby Covington revealed that the RAF brass have reached out to Khamzat Chimaev’s team, and he expects to wrestle “Borz” after the latter makes the first defense of his UFC middleweight championship. Covington said:

“I would love to get cu*shot [Chimaev] in the RAF. I would love to wrestle him. I know I can break him. He doesn’t have good cardio. So I love it. I love to see him in the RAF mats. The CEO, Chad Bronstein, the visionary Eric Bischoff, and Izzy Martinez, I know they are talking to cu*shot’s camp.”

Earlier today, Dana White revealed that “Borz” will defend his 185-pound strap against Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 328 on May 9.

After that, Covington expects to face the Chechen-born Emirati in Wrestling’s New Main Stage: Real American Freestyle. He added:

“So that could be a potential matchup after he finishes his business with the UFC. He has to get through his title fight, and I think after he gets done with the title fight, I might have the [freestyle wrestling match with Chimaev].”

In the same interview, Covington also slammed the UFC for not letting him be part of the June 14 White House card and for keeping him out of action for nearly 15 months.
