The 2024 Pangos All-American Camp concluded with two intense All-Star Games, making it one of the most competitive camps in the event’s 22-year history. Guard Meleek Thomas was named the camp’s Most Outstanding Player, and many other players showcased their talents on the big stage.
In elite showcase camps, the level of play can sometimes be lacking, but the 2024 Pangos All-American Camp was different. The games were well-played and highly competitive from start to finish, starting with the first games on Sunday and culminating in the final All-Star Game on Tuesday afternoon.
For the first time ever, a team championship game was held before the Cream of the Crop All-Star Games to recognize winning basketball. The University of Illinois, representing the Big 10 Conference, faced off against Notre Dame, representing the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Illini came from behind to win the game 86-73 and finish the camp with a perfect 4-0 record.
Standout players for the championship-winning Illinois team included guard Jerry Easter, who had 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists, as well as Jermaine O’Neal Jr. and Badara Diakite. Despite Notre Dame holding a halftime lead, Illinois’ rebounding and assist numbers ultimately led them to victory.
One of the top performers at the camp was Brayden Burries from Notre Dame, who showcased his versatility and leadership on the court. While Easter was praised for his efficiency and controlled game, Burries’ impact on the game was undeniable, both on and off the ball.
In the Cream of the Crop Top 30 All-Star Game, Easter continued to impress with his efficiency and smart play, solidifying his status as one of the top players in the camp. He has been a standout on the circuit for years and his experience playing in a balanced system at La Lumiere helped him excel at the Pangos Camp.
